Frequently Asked Questions

The Economist Global Business review is published on the 1st of each month (eg: 1st May, 1st June). Subscribers will receive ten new articles on the 1st of each month, then subsequently one new article every weekday. Non-subscribers will have free access to 3 articles on the 1st of each month, plus 1 new free article every Friday.

The Economist Global Business Review can be accessed either via an iPhone or Android smartphone or tablet. You will be able to download The Economist Global Business Review as a free app from your device's app store.

  • Search for The Economist Global Business Review on iOS, Google play and China local Android App Stores, or visit www.tegbr.com(Recommended).
  • Follow your usual in-app download method.
  • Open the The Economist Global Business Review launcher icon on your smartphone or tablet.
  • Follow the instructions on screen – you can continue as a free user or subscribe immediately to enjoy uninterrupted service.

The Economist Global Business review has upgraded the app into version 2.0 in June 2016, which offers a fresh look and feel making it easier for readers to stay up-to-date with the latest news in Business, Finance and Technology from around the world. You can now:

  • Listen to the original English Audio of articles
  • Bookmark & Like articles
  • Access archived issues
  • Adjust the font size of the article
  • Select day / night reading mode

No - The Economist Global Business Review is a separate product and current subscribers do not get automatic access. We will in the future look at offering combination packages but this is not confirmed yet.

Currently, The Economist Global Business Review is only available in English to Simplified Chinese or English to Traditional Chinese.

To purchase a subscription to The Economist Global Business Review in-app, please:

  • Open The Economist Global Business Review app
  • Tap the menu icon “…” at the top right of the screen
  • Tap Subscribe and follow the on-screen instructions

Please note that a subscription purchased in-app provides you with full access to The Economist Global Business Review and not to any other print or digital elements of The Economist products.

If you purchased a subscription for The Economist Global Business Review and have lost your access, you can restore your subscription by doing the following:

  • Open The Economist Global Business Review app
  • Tap the menu icon “…” at the top right of the screen
  • Tap the “Restore my purchase” option and follow the on-screen instructions

Readers who subscribe to annual offer of The Economist Global Business Review can get free full access to our additional benefit – Study community on The Economist Group WeChat Public Account (ID: TheEconomistGroup). Add our assistant on WeChat (ID: ecogbr) and you will receive the access link once your subscription & payment passed our authentication check.

When you subscribe to The Economist Global Business Review you will automatically be given access to all the archived issues (up to 12 months back). If you cancel your subscription then you will lose access to the archived issues as well.

Unfortunately you are unable to delete articles from The Economist Global Business Review from your device. To delete issues - hold down on the issue you wish to delete and a pop up will show asking if you to confirm deletion of the issue.

You can click to enter “Audio Deletion” section on “Setting” page in The Economist Global Business Review app (version v2.5.3 and above). Then choose the duration after which the audio will automatically be deleted. Options are: 7 days, 15 days, 30 days, 45 days, or “Do Not Delete”.

Charges:

  • You will pay the fee in your local currency at the current exchange rate defined by iTunes.
  • Payment will be charged to your iTunes account when you confirm your purchase.
  • You are not allowed to cancel your current subscription during an active subscription period.
  • Your subscription will be automatically renewed unless you close auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of your active subscription period.
  • Your subscription will be automatically renewed at your purchase price within 24 hours prior to the expiry date of the subscription.
  • You can manage your subscriptions and auto-renewals in your iTunes account settings.
  • You can cancel your subscription within the free trial period via your iTunes account's subscription settings.   • You can close your subscription auto-renewals by "Account Settings". However, you cannot cancel the current subscription during the subscription period.

  • The payment will be charged to your Alipay or WeChat payment account when you confirm your purchase.
  • You are not allowed to cancel your current subscription during an active subscription period.
  • Subscriptions paid by Alipay will be automatically renewed at your purchase price unless you close the auto-renewal at Alipay Client at least 24 hours before the end of your active subscription period.
  • Users who use the WeChat payment to subscribe do not have to worry about the issue of auto-renewal for the time being.
  • You can manage your subscriptions and auto-renewals on the APP settings page.

  • Open The Economist Global Business Review app
  • Tap the menu icon “…” at the top right of the screen
  • Tap Contact us and then select your preferred method to leave feedback for your region

Please click on the ‘Contact Us’ button in the app. You can also find our email address and phone number if you wish to contact us directly. When you contact our Customer Service with a technical query, please include the following info:

  • Device name
  • OS version number
  • App version number
  • Country you are experiencing the issue in
  • Which country’s app store you downloaded the app from
  • Description of the issue
  • Steps to replicate the issue
  • Screenshots of the error message
